Cycling in South Carolina
The state of South Carolina gradually rises from the west coast (with some beautiful beaches to bicycle along) to the hilly and rural interior.
Cycling conditions
The roads are generally well designed for the presence of cyclists. Information to motorized traffic about cycling is limited.
Landscape
The state rises gradually from the east coast to the hilly and more rural interior. The Coastal Plains, the coastal zone that consists of lowlands continues to rolling hills. In this area are sandy beaches. The Piedmont Region is the central hilly area with several large lakes. In the extreme west the hills continue further as the Blue Ridge Mountains, about 1,000 meters above sea level.
Climate
Southern and mild. Warm, sometimes humid summers, especially in the low-lying coastal areas. Moderate, not very cold winters. Best periods to visit this state are spring and autumn.
