Cycling in Arkansas

The northwest of Arkansas is mountainous. The south and east consists of farming lowlands, in the river valley of the Mississippi.

Cycling conditions


Although the state encourages cycling, the traffic law stays behind when it comes to cyclists. There is no state wide structured network of cycling paths.


Landscape

The northwest of the state is mountainous with Magazine Mountain (839 m) in the Ozark Mountains being the highest point . In the west, along the border with Oklahoma, are the Ouachita Mountains. The south and east of Arkansas consist of farming lowlands in the river valley of the Mississippi. More than half the state is covered with forests

Climate
Arkansas has a temperate climate. Summers are humid and not too hot. Winters are moderate. Pleasant temperatures in spring and autumn.
