2th section Ride the East heads out from Washington DC as we cross the Arlington Memorial Bridge and pick up the Mount Vernon Bike Path, past Arlington and Alexandria Virginia.
From Fredericksburg, we pass many Civil War Memorial sites, take some time and explore the history. As we continue south through rural Virginia, you will see cotton, peanut, and tobacco fields and many stately plantation homes.
You are sure to see farmers beginning the fall harvest. As we cycle through the countryside, the terrain will flatten out completely. Well, nearly.
Next we meander across North Carolina, head east to the ocean and land in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Time for a round of golf, a walk on the beach, or just relax, you’ve earned it!
