Itinerary

The southern sections of the Mississippi River Ride travel through flat sections of the Mississippi River Delta. Fertile farm land abounds as we’ll pass many plantations growing cotton, rice, sugarcane, and a few fish hatcheries.

Soon we’ll cross into the state of Mississippi. The tour stops in Vicksburg and Natchez to explore the wealth of Civil War history. We cross into Tennessee and work our way right into downtown Memphis. Here we’ll take the day off and see all the sights Memphis has to offer.

Missouri the State will show us flat rural farm landscape where cycling is terrific. We’ll wind our way along the river again and see the river boats as we pass the locks nearing St. Louis. After a day of sightseeing in St. Louis we’re back on the bike and headed north.

The northern section of the tour is more rural and rolling. We’ll again pass a number of river boats and locks. From there we’ll meander along the river and cross into Illinois. The riding continues to be scenic, rural small town America. Time is passing and the river is calling.

As we cross into Wisconsin, the terrain really rolls up and down along huge bluffs created by the great Glaciers that created the tremendous Mississippi River Valley. The scenery on top of the bluffs is fantastic. After our final overnight in Red Wing, a quaint river town and tackling the last hills we roll into Minneapolis.
