You will also find several hot springs around the active volcanoes that are very popular among tourists. There are several National Parks in Ecuador. Furthermore, it is a country of many small and larger traditional markets.
Ecuador has two seasons, dry and wet. The dry season is from June to September and this is the best season for cycling. There is much more chance of blue skies and beautiful views of the volcanoes.
The climbs in Ecuador are steep, very steep. Where in Peru they spread a long climb over the mountain wall with hairpin bends, in Ecuador they seem to want to go straight up.
