This is the first section of the South American Epic.

Mountains, jungles, waterfalls, coffee, beaches and thriving cities are just a few of this country's gifts.

Colombia is a very bicycle-friendly country. You will see large groups of Colombians on racing bikes on Saturday and Sunday. There will always be a few who will drive past you to have a chat. On Sundays, the inner cities are closed off for several hours and cleared for cycling, skating, walking and dancing. It is used in large numbers. The roads are good, but some routes are busy with freight traffic. However, not as terribly busy as some weblogs suggest. Good to do. The country is mountainous in many places, be prepared for that. Sometimes the distances are long. In the more populated areas you will often pass stalls where the most delicious fruit juices are served with a big smile.
