Montana, Whitefish

A northern locale that meets our standard for unique cycling, lodging and dining experiences. Glacier National Park is a bucket-list road cycling and hiking journey! A tour to Glacier National Park is not complete without riding into Canada’s Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park!
Our Glacier National Park Bike Tour has suitable options for cyclists of all abilities. Ride as much or as little as desired. Both parks provide not to be missed hiking options to waterfalls, verdant meadows filled with wildflowers and mountain summits. We’ll take a few of these treks to add variety to the week’s activities. While we’ll remain in the confines of Glacier and Waterton, the scenery more than makes up for the relatively compact area of the tour. And since we will be venturing out in summertime, the far northern latitude brings extended evenings. Don’t be surprised if sunset arrives until 10:30 at night!

Start:
Alaska, Dawson City

Dawson City, once known as the “Paris of the North,” is our start and end point for a unique combination of a river trip and bike tour. We take to our canoes on the historic Yukon River for a four day paddle from Dawson to the town of Eagle, Alaska. The current moves you along at a good clip, though there is no whitewater. Experience the beautiful solitude along the hundred mile river journey as you camp on the shoreline and visit relics of the area’s gold rush past.
After crossing back into the United States, we pull off the river in Eagle, AK in for a comfortable night in a local B&B. We reconnect with our van, trailer, and bikes for the scenic ride back to Dawson City on the Taylor and Top of the World Highways. Stunning views of the Yukon Plateau await in a territory the size of California, with a total population of approximately 30,000 people! The biking portion is fully supported with a mix of gravel and paved roads.

Canada is the second largest country in the world in size, after the Russian Federation. It is about 4,000 miles from east to west and nearly 3,000 miles from north to south towards the US border far above the Arctic Circle. In central Canada are vast prairies, particularly in the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and part of Alberta. To the west lie the Rocky Mountains. In the north you will find immense, almost uninhabited arctic landscapes and the Canadian Arctic Islands. In the east of the country one finds the Maritime Provinces and the island of Newfoundland. The Bay of Fundy between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia has the largest difference between the tides in the world. Canada is ideal for nature lovers, where cycling on the main roads should be taken for granted. The quality of the roads is fair to good, on the shoulder less. On the main roads cyclists are a normal sight.
