The ten best cycling country in the world are, according to the Dutch AAA magazine "Op Pad", in alphabetical order: Cuba, Great Britain, India, Laos, Malawi, Peru, Senegambia, Slovenia, Tajikistan and the USA.
The so-called TransAm route was used for the assessment of the USA. This magnificent long journey starts on the east coast at the Victory Monument in Yorktown (Virginia) and ends on the west coast in Astoria (Oregon). The route of about 7000 km passes through Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and Oregon. This classic route is more than you'd expect from a transcontinental trip. You'll ride through a huge variety of landscapes. From the ocean coastline through forests, deserts, snow-capped mountain peaks farm landscapes, beautiful hills, great rivers and through the Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. There are some uphill stretches in the eastern (Appalachian Mountains and the Ozarks) and later in the Rockies.
