This week the Sea Otter Classic is held in Monterey, a weekend filled with bicycle activities and of course Sea Otter spotting.
What better week to give you some hot spot tips in Monterey!
Sea Otters, Seals & Jellyfish
Cycling from San Francisco to Monterey will take you along the coast and is a scenic route. Before you enter Monterey you will pass Moss Landing. Here you can always spot sea otters laying around in the water.
But don't worry if you don't have time to visit Moss Landing because when you enter Monterey and walk to the Fishermans Pier you can not only see sea otters but also sea lions, pelicans, seals and jellyfish. If the Fishermans Pier is to busy for your taste you can always go to Cannery Row, this is more quiet but you will still be able to spot sea life.
Point Lobos: a hidden gem
Just south of Carmel, near Monterey, is Point Lobos State Park. A true hidden gem. You can find beautiful shores, seals on a rock and well-maintained trails. It is a great place to reconnect with nature and re-energize.
Fresh food
After a long day, what better way to unwind than to grab a bite to eat! In Pacific Grove there is a great little Mexican restaurant: Peppers Mexicali Cafe. The ingredients are fresh and the staf is great.
