Landscape
The coastal area in eastern Massachusetts has wide sandy beaches and deep coves with many natural harbors. Inland begins an area with low plains and the valley of the Connecticut River. Further west the Berkshire Hills with many nice classical New England villages. There are over 1,100 lakes in this state. At the south coast lie the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
